A transition from the flat world to the immersive space that, in hindsight, seems evident.

This book focuses on the collaboration between Belgian artist Benoît van Innis and a number of international architects. It explores how these collaborations have led to environments rich in meaning and surprising in expression. It shows how such collaborations can result in shared authorship, blurring the boundaries between art and architecture. This attitude can serve as an example for rethinking who takes the lead, which references we build on, and which narratives we produce and reproduce. At the same time, it reflects on the art of making, the artist's involvement in production and craft, and the added value this can offer to a world at risk of becoming ever more generic.

With work by, among others, De Smet Vermeulen architecten, jo taillieu architecten / advvt, EM2N, Kraaijvanger Architects, Marie-José Van Hee architecten, Robbrecht en Daem architecten, noAarchitecten and Sergison Bates architects.

Written contributions by Ali Smith, Philip Ursprung, Jan Florizoone and Paul Vermeulen.
